HMR® in the News

HMR Featured in Medical Economics Magazine

(April, 2008) The April issue of the prestigious and well-read Medical Economics Magazine included HMR in a feature on potential services that office-based primary care physicians could add to their practice.  HMR was the only weight-loss program that was profiled in the cover article titled “The Quest for New Ancillaries”.  Lawrence T.P. Stifler, Ph.D., founder and president of HMR, provided an outline of a streamlined version of the HMR Program for Weight Management™ that is currently used by private practice healthcare professionals across the country.  Dr. Stifler stressed that the streamlined program includes many of the same elements of the more comprehensive clinic-based HMR Program, including the use of meal replacements, exercise, increased consumption of fruits and vegetables, and keeping records of food and physical activity calories.

HMR at Home® Diet Kits Highlighted in Women's Health Magazine

(March, 2008) A weight-loss feature in the March issue of Women’s Health, a monthly women’s health and fitness magazine, highlighted the HMR at Home Program as an effective dieting strategy because it does not require complicated formulas, math, or counting calories. In fact, the first suggestion in the article was to enroll in a meal-delivery service such as HMR at Home, which includes delivery of weight-loss foods and diet support materials. The article recommended signing up for such a service because it allows for “portion control without the decimal points.” The advantage of such a service is that dieters can receive meals in “just-right sizes” delivered to their doorstep each week. Another advantage is that the portion sizes of packaged weight-loss foods help train the dieter on proper portion sizes to help make smarter choices when creating meals on their own.

HMR Featured in Obesity Management Journal

(December, 2007) HMR was one of four national diet programs highlighted in the December issue of Obesity Management, the official publication of the Centers of Obesity Research and Education. The article looked at weight-loss programs that use meal replacements as the primary dieting tool. The article concluded that "meal replacements are an effective decision-free tool individuals can employ to help them lose significant amounts of weight without surgery."
